Combined effects of Chalicodoma rufipes (Hymenoptera: Megachilidae) activity and compost on pollination and production of Phaseolus vulgaris pink variety (Fabaceae) at Dang (Ngaoundéré, Cameroon)

To evaluate synergistic effect of compost and Chalicodoma rufipes on Phaseolus vulgaris pink variety production, during the 2018 2021 cropping seasons, experiments were carried out in a complete randomized block design with three treatments: subplots applied compost; NPK-fertilizer; neither compost, nor NPK. Other four treatments made up 1220 labelled flowers comprising two differentiated according to presence or absence protection from insect visits; third protected uncovered when opened, anable C. visit fourth reprotected any other organism visits. rufipes’s daily rhythm activity, its foraging behavior pollination efficiency evaluated. Results reveal that significantly increased (P < 0.001) P. plants biomass. Among 13 species recorded flowers, ranked second 20.84% 782 intensely harvested nectar. The combined effet notably fruiting rate, number seeds per pod percentage normal by 49.4%, 13.8% 26.63%, respectively. Hence, application preservation nests close fields is recommended improve production this important crop legume region.
